Your Finger ist the ekey – James Bond says “Hello”

ekeyhome is a physical access control system that scans and stores fingerprints as an ekey code template during enrolment. Later on during validation, a user is granted access only after a successful match of newly generated template with a previously stored one. No image is stored, only an encrypted binary code template that cannot be reversed or used to reconstruct the original fingerprint image. If the captured information matches with the previously stored finger scan, access is granted immediately. Neither a PC nor a technician is necessary to add users to the system. Up to 99 fingers can be administrated by ekeyhome.

Today’s fingerprint systems use different surface scanning technologies such as optical, capacity and thermal. For ekey, this was not enough in meeting its high set of standards for user’s privacy and security, resistance against manipulation and environmental influences. For that reason, ekey has integrated and developed its solution using a thermal line scanner.

ekey net is the perfect biometric access solution for companies: „We talk about a comfortable access system based on terminals and servers. ekey net is based on a network, i.e. several ekeynet-Terminals can be adopted in one location. The data is centrally stored and managed. Furthermore it’s possible to apply ekey net across several locations. The only requirement is the availability of a computer.

ekeynet consists of an scanner and control panel as well as the associated software. The finger templates can be administered by a computer. An administrator allocates access authorisations within a company, i.e. for the entrance area, the laboratory the warehouse and the data room. The functionality of ekeynet is easy: New employees do not receive either keys, cards or codes. Instead, they rather swipe their finger over the biometric finger scanner of ekey. As a matter of fact the biometric data of the finger is not stored as a photo, but rather as a binary code in the system. Starting with their first day at work, users simply swipe their finger to open doors.  Possible set-ups: From now on, only the IT-employees and the participants of the management are authorised to enter the Server room. Or: Employees in the warehouse only have access during the working hours. The finger will be drawn over the scanner. The lock will be released and the employee can enter the warehouse. The directors on the other hand, have access to the area any time.

Or: Only persons with a driver licence for automatic working machines are able to start the engine.

 

If an employee is leaving the company, their biometric data is deleted in less than a second. „By removing a user from the system, their access rights are immediately erased! Conventional means, such as keys, cards or codes frequently cause a considerable security threat. As a part of the security concept, ekeynet plays an important role”, says Gallner.
